About Us.

Enduranz Events started as a two person team of ‘brains and brawn’. Tineka and Glen both have an extensive history in event involvement from both organising and a participating perspective. With a quality combined skill set they are on a mission to bring Cantabrians and New Zealanders alike quality endurance events in their own backyard which they can be proud of. In 2020 they welcome on the team Regan Turner, who brings a fresh perspective and passion for events.

Glen Currie

Glen grew up on a farm in Methven. His passion for the outdoors began at an early age with him and his younger brother Braden Currie escaping into the foothills to ski, snowboard, tramp, hunt, motorbike, mountain bike and run whenever possible. Post schooling Glen completed a Bachelor of Education, specialising in Physical Education. Whilst studying he spent a number of summers in the Colorado chasing the snow. On graduating from University, Glen ran a residential outdoor pursuits program before spending a couple of years cycling around Europe and travelling in Africa.

On returning home to be based teaching in Methven, Glen discovered endurance sport and went about competing in as many iconic events throughout New Zealand as possible. In doing so he managed to win such races as the Goldrush, Peak to Peak, and twice finished third place in the Longest Day Coast to Coast. He has since competed in a number of events in China and throughout the world.

Glen is still based in Methven now with his young family of three boys and continues to be passionate about his backyard, and the training and racing opportunities it offers. He enjoys the fact that Canterbury back country is somewhat underrated in terms of New Zealand outdoor experience locations and that it allows for a fairly ‘ungroomed’ wilderness.

He believes that he has a wealth of experience in terms of what makes a ‘quality event’ and is excited about the challenge of creating such experiences for others.

Tineka Johnstone

Tineka grew up on a farm in Hawarden, North Canterbury, where she developed a strong interest in horse riding, netball, and cycling.

After completing her schooling, she moved to Christchurch and began her career in banking. A few years later, she and her husband Tony travelled to England on their OE, where Tineka gained diverse experience working as a polo groom, children’s event organiser, and office manager.

Upon returning to New Zealand, Tineka joined NZ Young Farmers, working from the National Office in Ashburton to coordinate the Young Farmer Contest. Over three years, she progressed to National Manager and later Financial Controller, building significant experience in event management and organisational leadership.

She has since held roles as Event Coordinator for the South Island Agricultural Field Days and currently serves as Event Manager for the South Island Dairy Event.

Tineka is based in Wānaka with her husband and their three teenage children, and continues to deliver events through Enduranz Events as well as in an independent contracting capacity.

Regan Turner

Regan joins the team as the race director for our other event, the 'Rolleston Kids Triathlon'.

He grew up in the adventure playground of Nelson before moving to Canterbury to attend University, where he trained as a Physical Education Teacher. Its through teaching that he met Glen and his enthusiasm for multi-sport rubbed off on Regan. He caught the bug and this has seen him to go on to compete in a wide range of endurance events across New Zealand and Australia. From multi-sport, triathlon and adventure racing to ultra marathons, ocean swimming and mountain biking events.

A self titled 'mid pack battler' Regan enjoys most the adventure and journey of getting himself to a start line and the like minded people he meets in the lead up to getting himself out on the course. Having experienced a wide range of events he has now turned his skills into the organisation side of things and that doubled with his passion for kiwi kids to be fit and healthy he has developed the popular 'Rolleston Kids Triathlon'.

Regan is the 'get it done man' on Misson Mt Somers day and prides himself his ability to hand out the cold beverages to the finishes as they cross the line.

He lives in Christchurch with his wife and two sons.
