Swim

The swim leg will take place in the Selwyn Aquatic Centre and in the lane pool. Participants will start in waves of 10 and will do widths of the pool in the shallow end. This is to allow swimmers the safety of being able to touch the bottom throughout the swim leg. 7-8year olds will do one width, 9-13year olds will do three.
Please note that the 5-6year age group will not do a swim, they will do a duathlon event starting with a run. We advise that a parent accompanies the 5/6 year olds through the course by either running besides or doing the run/bike with them - or if your child if confident they can do it themselves.

Once participants exit the pool they will be directed to the pool exit and follow a marked off course towards Foster Park. They will cross the road near the big playground under the direction of traffic management.
From here they will enter the bike transition.
In transition they will put on the compulsory clothing items, their helmet and uplift their bike.

Bike

They will then set off the bike course. This will be well sign posted and have marshals at regular intervals. This will take them around the outermost paved area of Foster Park.

Once they complete the bike leg they will enter the bike drop off area, placing their bike down in their allocated spot. They will then set off on the run course.

Run

The run will take them around a roped off and sign posted course within Foster Park and back to the finish line area.
The finish line area will be near the Hockey Turf in Foster Park.

Due to construction sites at both the pool and Foster Park the exact courses are still being worked on. When these are finalised maps will be produced and uploaded onto the website for each age category for parents and participants to familiarise themselves with before the event.
