REGISTRATION AND IMPORTANT INFO
We will be updating you with important info on our website - click here to check out registration, briefing and start times, information about aid stations, drop boxes, and all other important information. Please let us know if you have any questions.

MARATHON CUT OFF TIMES
The marathon consists of predominately technical single track, with a number of metres of vertical to climb - it is a challenging course. Be ready to add a couple of hours to your road marathon time, this is an adventure run! The average time for the marathon is 6.5 hours and the half is 4.5 hours. If you are running the marathon you must be at the half way point (Woolshed Creek car park) by 12:30pm to meet the cut-off. If you make this you are good to carry on. There is no cut off time for the half marathon - once you are on it, the only way out is by foot!

CASH PRIZES!
Marathon
Open Women winner $500 cash
Open Men winner $500 cash
** Cash prizes provided by Tavendale & Partners

Half Marathon
Open Women winner $250 cash
Open Men winner $250 cash

$200 bonus to the fastest half marathon individual who can break 2 hours!

Competitors must be entered in the open division to be eligible for cash prizes, all other prizes will be a selection of our wonderful sponsors merchandise!

ARE YOU FITTER THAN LAST YEAR?
If you ran the race last year, there is a prize up for grabs for the athlete that shaves the most time off their last years time.

TRANSFER FROM FULL TO HALF MARATHON
If you're not quite as fit as you'd hope to be, we are happy to transfer your entry from the full to half marathon - or vice versa if you want to upsize to the marathon.

WAVE STARTS AT THE HALF MARATHON
Due to the increase in numbers for the half marathon, and the bottleneck at the start of the race, you will self seed and start in waves.

DOC CONSENT
DOC (Department of Conservation) do a primo job keeping our tracks and facilities prime for our recreation, and we are stoked with their support to get our ten year consent completed. However this does mean that we have restrictions in terms of numbers we are allowed on the track....we are stoked to announce that we are getting near our limit so if you know anyone still wanting to enter the full or half, we suggest they enter now so they don't miss out.

WILD THINGS NZ TRAIL RUNNING CLUB
We are chuffed to have partnered with the Wild Things NZ Trail Running Club who are helping us promote our Mission Mt Somers race to a wider audience. Wild Things are doing an awesome job of building a website that provides Kiwi trail runners with heaps of Ideas, Information and Inspiration. Particularly impressive is their world-class Trail Directory that already has over 450 featured trail runs from all around the country. Check out their website and give serious consideration to joining as a VIP Member - for $49 a year you can get access to deals that can save you hundreds of dollars and at the same time you'll be supporting the development of the awesome resources that Wild Things are building to encourage trail runners of all levels of experience.

SPONSORS

We couldn't bring you the awesome prize pack worth over $10,000 without the support of our sponsors so please support them where you can: (click on the logo to visit their website):

Update #1 - 13/10/16

REGISTRATION AND IMPORTANT INFO
We will be updating you with important info on our website - click here to check out registration, briefing and start times, information about aid stations, drop boxes, and all other important information. Please let us know if you have any questions.

5KM RACE
We have decided there are a lot of aspiring runners out there who would like to give off-road running a go so we have created a 5km race. This race will go off-road, through streams and down farm tracks. Great for kids of all ages and those adults just wanting to get off the couch and have a go.

WIN $200 IN THE HALF MARATHON
Glen has generously offered $200 for the fastest athlete to break the 2 hour mark in the 21km half marathon. Can you do it?

ARE YOU FITTER THAN LAST YEAR?
If you ran the race last year, there is a prize up for grabs for the athlete that shaves the most time off their last years time.

SHUTTLE FOR THE HALF MARATHON
Due to parking issues, the shuttle is compulsory this year and part of your 21km entry fee. The shuttle leaves from the Staveley Hall (registration) from 0715 - 0745 and delivers you to the start line. We will have drop boxes for your gear that will return to the finish line.

NEWSLETTER #1

14/10/15

A couple of points to note:

  • 42km marathon - there will be a drop box facility at Woolshed Creek carpark. This will enable you to have a second bag of supplies for the second half of the marathon, however you must still have the compulsory equipment in this bag. You must also clearly label this bag so you will know which one is yours at our aid station.
  • 21km half marathon - competitors that are not on the shuttle - due to limited space at Woolshed Creek carpark, the half marathon car park is approximately 2kms from the start line. For those getting dropped off there is a turn-around facility at the start line (but no parking). If you have already entered, but forgot to book the shuttle, please email info@enduranzevents.co.nz. Please note that it takes 20 minutes to drive from Staveley to the start of the half marathon. The shuttle will leave Staveley Hall at 0800.
  • When you enter you will automatically go into your appropriate age category: Youth (U18), Open (18-39), Veteran (40-49), Classic (50+) (DOB as at 31/10/15). However the prizes will be better in the Open Category so if you think you have a crack at winning the Open title but fall out of the age bracket, please email info@enduranzevents.co.nz and we can swap your category.
  • The 10km course can be walked, but there is no separate category for walkers.
  • Drink stations at Woolshed Creek carpark (marathon), Woolshed Creek hut, and just past Sharplin Falls carpark.

Registration and Briefing Times

REGISTRATION - all registrations will take place at Staveley Hall
    TIMES: Marathon: 0600 - 0630
    Half Marathon: 0600 - 0815
    10km run: 0600 - 1000
Please note that it takes 20 minutes to drive from Staveley to the start of the half marathon. The shuttle will leave Staveley Hall at 0800.

    BRIEFING TIMES AND LOCATIONS:
    Marathon: 0645 - Staveley Hall
Half Marathon: 0845 - Start line 2kms before the Woolshed Creek carpark
    10km run: 1015 - Staveley Hall

    Approximate times for the races

    10km: Fastest 45 minutes, slowest 2 hours

    21km: Fastest 2 hours, slowest 6 hours

    42km: Fastest 5 hours, slowest 9 hours

DOC has cleared any post winter debris and the track is currently in an awesome dry condition for this time of year. All courses take in some areas of private land which makes this race even more awesome, however we ask that you respect the landowners and wait until race day to run through these areas.

We are getting really excited about the race, all is coming together nicely. All we need now is for the sun to shine and the All Blacks to make the final on November 1st and it should be a perfect weekend!!!!

Info about the 10km run

Tineka Johnstone - Saturday, October 03, 2015
We have had lots of questions about the 10 kilometre off-road run/walk. The course is predominately off-road but very achievable. It provides plenty of quality views and could be run in a fast time of 45 minutes or walked over a couple of hours.
